You’ve Been Measuring Consistency Wrong
Your consistency mindset might be the problem, specifically, how you’ve been taught to define it.
Most people point to the same reasons: not enough time, not enough focus, life being too unpredictable. All valid, but none of them are actually the root of the problem. 🫣
We’ve been told consistency means doing something every single day without fail: posting multiple times a day, recording a new episode every week, showing up no matter what.
And when you inevitably can’t keep that up, you feel like you’re the problem. But really, you were just measuring yourself against a standard that was never realistic to begin with.

What Consistency Actually Means (A Better Definition)
Here’s the consistency mindset shift that actually changes things:
Consistency is not about doing something perfectly every day → it’s about following through even when life isn’t perfect.
Because here’s the truth: your life is dynamic. Your energy fluctuates. Interruptions are normal.
You are a solopreneur juggling a business, a life, and approximately a thousand other things at once. So trying to maintain some rigid, daily, perfect routine is not the flex it’s made out to be.
Real consistency looks more like this:
- Showing up at a pace that actually works for you
- Adjusting that pace based on your capacity week to week
- Staying connected to your business over time, not abandoning it completely
One week you might feel energized, have a clear calendar, and batch record three podcast episodes. The next week you’re back down to one. The week after that, something comes up in life and you take the whole week off.
None of that makes you inconsistent. That makes you human. 🫶🏼

You Don’t Have to Be Everywhere to Be Consistent
One of the biggest traps that messes up your consistency mindset is believing you have to be on all the time, in all the places.
But if you’re a solopreneur without a full team, that’s just not realistic. You cannot do everything, and you don’t need to be on every platform.
Strategic Consistency Means Showing Up in the Right Places for You
Pinterest isn’t for everyone. Podcasting isn’t for everyone. And even if something could work for you, that doesn’t mean it makes sense for right now.
I’ve seen this play out so many times. Solopreneurs spread themselves across every platform, burning out, and then wondering why nothing is working.
One platform done well beats five done halfway, every time. 👏🏼
Missing Time Doesn’t Mean Starting Over
It’s about honestly assessing what you can handle, what aligns with your business, and committing to that at whatever pace fits your life at this moment in time.
Missing a week doesn’t break your growth. Missing a month doesn’t mean starting over. Your progress is still compounding, still working in your favor.
The key is that you keep coming back.

Give Yourself More Credit
There’s something that tends to get overlooked when we talk about consistency, and that’s all the experience, knowledge, and momentum you’ve already built up.
Think About Everything You’ve Already Done
It’s easy to dismiss the things that didn’t go perfectly, but all of it counts, more than you probably realize.
Things like:
- Every launch you’ve run, even the ones that didn’t go as planned
- Every offer you’ve created, even the ones you retired
- Every week you showed up even halfway
- Every system you built, process you figured out, or lesson you learned the hard way
For example, I would like to run a summit every single year, but my realistic pace has turned out to be every two years.
And even though that’s not what I originally planned, I still carry all the experience from the last one with me into the next. That’s not failure. That’s progress that can’t be undone. 💁🏻♀️
Your Progress Doesn’t Disappear When You Slow Down
You carry that with you too. It doesn’t disappear because you took a break or slowed down for a season.
Those slower seasons are normal. They’re healthy. They don’t define whether you’re consistent or not.
What matters is that you give yourself grace when things get hard, and then you come back when you’re ready.
Remember: your pace can always pick back up.

Shifting Your Consistency Mindset Is Step One
Even with all of this, you might still find yourself feeling stuck, losing momentum quickly, or constantly starting from scratch. If that’s you, there’s likely one thing missing.
You Need a Simple System to Support Your Consistency
Without it, you’re relying on your memory, motivation, and willpower every single time, which is exhaustingggg.
I’ve taken months off from the podcast before and been able to come back and pick right up where I left off. Not because I’m exceptionally disciplined, but because my system holds everything for me. The outline, the tools, the steps… it’s all just there waiting.
With a system like that, you’re not starting over. You’re just picking back up.
