Podcast Description
Ever found yourself taking a podcast break you didn’t mean to?
Yeah… me too. What started as a short breather turned into a months-long podcast break I didn’t plan, and in this episode, I’m sharing the full story.
From system gaps to bandwidth burnout, this episode unpacks why I stepped away, what’s changed, and how I’m doing things differently now.
What you’ll learn:
- What led to my unplanned podcast break
- The pressure of needing “perfect” systems (especially with ADHD)
- A key mindset shift that helped me move forward without burnout
- How I’m simplifying productivity in this new season
- What to expect from the podcast going forward
Whether you’re returning from your own podcast break, juggling too much, or needing permission to pause, this episode is for you.

Intro
I didn’t plan to take a podcast break. At most, I thought I’d step away briefly, regroup, and come back with a clearer plan. But as the months went on, it became obvious that this pause was longer (and more necessary) than I originally expected.
So let’s get into what actually happened, what changed behind the scenes, and what this season taught me about capacity, systems, and productivity that actually works in real life.
Why the Podcast Paused Longer Than Planned
I initially paused the podcast because my bandwidth was maxed out, and my systems weren’t ready to take on more.
At the time, I was intentionally shifting focus towards my YouTube channel. I knew I couldn’t do both well with the energy and time I had, so something had to give. That “something” was the podcast.
What I didn’t anticipate was how much else would change during that season. Personally and professionally, this year felt like constant movement.
Every few weeks brought a new adjustment, a new priority, or a new limitation. The work required just to keep my business steady took most of my available energy, and bringing the podcast back simply wasn’t possible without forcing it. So the pause stayed.
What This Season Revealed About My Work Style
One of the biggest things this podcast break highlighted is how dependent my momentum is on systems.
If I don’t have a clear process (even a simple one), starting anything feels heavy. And while that awareness is helpful, it also revealed something I hadn’t fully acknowledged before.
I don’t just like systems.
I tend to wait for them to be complete before I begin.
That’s where perfectionism and productivity quietly overlap.
What can look like “being prepared” or “doing things the right way” can actually become a reason not to start at all. This pattern, especially common for people who rely on structure, is often rooted in perfectionism rather than practicality.
The Shift: Building the System While Doing the Work
The turning point came when I stopped trying to design the entire system for my YouTube channel upfront.
Instead of waiting to map everything from topic research to publishing to repurposing, I started with one video.
As I recorded it, I paid attention to what I actually needed. As I edited it, I documented what worked. As I published it, I adjusted the process.
And ironically, doing the work and building the system at the same time was what finally allowed me to dive into YouTube and see the possibility of bringing back the podcast soon.
What’s Different About the Podcast Moving Forward
Coming back to the podcast, I knew I didn’t want to recreate the same pressure that led to the break, so here’s what’s changing:
- Many episodes will also be recorded as video podcasts and shared on YouTube
- Some content will be audio-only when that feels more aligned
- Highly visual, tutorial-style content may live exclusively on YouTube
- I’m giving myself lots of flexibility with the content creation process
This podcast is meant to be a space for reflection, teaching, and real-life productivity conversations. Keeping it sustainable matters more than keeping it perfectly consistent.
An Honest Definition of Productivity
Listen, I’m not interested in productivity that’s rooted in:
- constant output
- rigid schedules
- or guilt when life interferes
Productivity has to honor energy, faith, and real-life capacity.
Some seasons are about building. Others are about maintaining. And some (like this one) are about stepping back long enough to see what actually needs to change.
A pause doesn’t automatically mean failure. Sometimes it shows the exact information we need to know how to move forward.
If You’re in Your Own “Pause” Season
If you’re reading this while navigating your own break from content, a routine, or from something you thought you’d be consistent with… here’s what I want you to take with you:
- You don’t need every system completely built to move forward
- One small, imperfect step can reveal what you actually need
- Capacity matters more than constant output
- You’re allowed to adjust the plans.
This podcast break wasn’t something I planned, but it was something I needed.
And I’m coming back with clearer boundaries, a more sustainable approach, and a deeper commitment to helping productivity feel aligned instead of rigid.
If you’re continuing along with me, the next episodes will dive deeper into what that really looks like. ✨
