The Bundle Boom
Hey, hey! Welcome back to the Cheerful Productive Chats Podcast. I am so excited to be talking to you about this particular topic, because in case you haven’t noticed, there has been a bundle boom in the past year and a half.
There are so many different types of bundles out there right now. There’s free bundles and paid bundles and mixed bundles, and
all the types of bundles for all of the niches. And I think that’s great.
I think that all of these bundles have been appearing for both the B2B and the B2C space. So the business to business and the business to consumer spaces, I think it makes us so much easier for, especially anyone newer that’s coming into the space to get your resources out there.
Just because you’re newer, it doesn’t mean that your stuff isn’t good. Right? And so I really do like that this has made it so much easier for anyone to come in and start gathering new leads quickly and easily. So I’m not mad at it.
My Bundle Experience
And despite the fact that at the beginning of the year, I said, okay, I participated in a lot of bundles last year. I’m not going to do the same thing this year. Um, It didn’t quite work out as planned.
I don’t remember how many I participated in last year. It was probably like 10 or 14 or so. And this year, I think I’ve already beat that. And, um, um, I guess I’m not mad at it.
But It’s just funny how this isn’t what I was hoping to do, but because there’s so many bundles out there, that means there’s so many opportunities, right?
There’s so many opportunities for you to pitch yourself to a bundle, for you to apply to a bundle and for you to get pitched as well. And as someone who has been in several, several bundles, now it has gotten easier for me to participate in even more bundles, and not just when I apply.
One of the big reasons why I’m in so many bundles is because I’ve been pitched. And some of these pitches have been great. Some of them are with people that I absolutely would love to collaborate with.
So it can be hard to say no sometimes, but that is how growing yourself and you’re putting yourself out there through a bundle can really, really help.
Why It’s Worth Being a Good Contributor
But what can also happen is if you are that standout contributor, if you are extremely easy to work with, if you do the things that we’re going to talk about in this episode, then it’s going to be so much easier for someone else to recommend you.
And that’s why you start to get so many pitches and so many invites and so many collaboration opportunities because other people have now worked with you, and they know how easy it was to do so.
And so that’s why I wanted to bring this conversation to the podcast today. There was an episode that I recorded, episode 29, where I talked about where you can find bundles and summits to participate in, and that episode was a huge hit.
So here I am with kind of like a follow-up, but more for, to help you get organized and help you become that contributor that people want inside of their bundle.
So, let me start by just covering why it’s even important to be a good contributor. Okay. So there’s, there’s a few reasons why, but the main reason why it’s worth being a good contributor is because you get to impress the bundle host.
No matter who the host is, whether you have a connection with them or not, whether you know them or not. It always pays off to impress the bundle host.
They are the one hosting the bundle. They’re the one hosting this big event, which means they might do it again. They might do that bundle again. They might do another event again. And if you impress them, then it increases your chances at getting invited to future events or to recommend you to others.
And I’m going to throw in a little humblebrag here, but I have participated in so many bundles and I have hosted my own bundle, so I have experience from both sides.
My Secret Sauce
And my secret sauce to being a standout contributor is that I use a Bundle Contributor Hub for every single bundle that I participate in.
And because I saw this explosion of all the bundles coming up, I recently launched a Trello board, the Bundle Contributor Hub. It’s the exact Trello board that I use whenever I participate in bundles to help me stay organized and stay on top of everything I need to do to be a good contributor for a bundle.

Biggest Tips on How To Be a Standout Bundle Contributor
But all right, let’s go ahead and go into these big tips on how to be a standout bundle contributor. There’s four main tips that I want to cover here in this episode today.
Submit on time
So the first one is please submit on time. Don’t submit your stuff late.
Now, depending on the bundle and the way that they’re hosting, they might have an application process. And then they might have another form where you actually submit the details of your contribution.
The one where you really want to submit on time is the one where you’re submitting your details. Because if you apply late, then chances are, you might not even get approved to join the bundle, right. So that one doesn’t make you a contributor at all, because you might not even become a contributor for that bundle.
But you want to make sure that whatever they’re asking for, please submit it on time. Whether it’s the links, making sure everything is working, making sure that you have your landing pages done, whether it’s to sign the contributor contract or agreement, if there is one, submit it all on time.
And in fact, you know, the saying where they’re like 15 minutes early is on time, right? Yeah, do that. Don’t wait until the last minute.
Especially me being a planner and having hosted my own bundle, I know how it can make us a little bit anxious to have people submitting at the last minute because you don’t know. You don’t know what’s going on on the other side. You don’t know what they have going on, what they’re working on and you don’t know if they’re going to get it in before the deadline. So don’t do that.
It’s so much better whenever you submit it early. Plus if you submit early, sometimes there’s extra perks to doing so. Maybe they get your stuff out done first.Maybe you’re higher up on the sales page. There might be other perks attached to it, but definitely it makes us feel a lot better.
Test your contribution
Number two, tip number two is to test your contribution prior to submitting. Okay. And I’m talking about everything. Test everything.
Your email sequence, the landing page link or the checkout link, the sales page link, any links involved… Check them. If there’s a coupon, please make sure that the coupon is spelled correctly, that it actually takes your contribution down to zero. Check it all. Okay.
Some bundle hosts will go back in and test your contribution and some bundle hosts won’t. It depends on their own process.
But either way, if there are any issues with your contribution, it doesn’t leave a good impression on one, the bundle host and also the person on the other end that’s trying to get your contribution.
Sometimes if there’s an issue, they won’t sign up at all. So that’s the missed opportunity for a new lead that you could have gotten if your stuff had been done correctly, because we all know it.
We’ve all had it happen. We’ve all had stuff break or we forgot to add a tag or we missed a step, like it’s happened to all of us. And sometimes you publish it, thinking that everything is done.
And then you don’t find out until maybe a hundred people have gone through a certain sequence and one person is kind enough to take some time out of their day to email you and be like, “hey, um, this isn’t working or I didn’t get this.”. Um, And you’re like, “oh my gosh. I’m so sorry.”
But that could have been, the other 99 people that went through that sequence, didn’t care enough to tell you, and maybe they’ll unsubscribe, maybe you’ve left the bad impression, whatever happens.
Like you want to make sure that you are testing your contribution right before you submit it. And then again if you make any edits or updates. Test it again to make sure that it’s all working nice and properly.
That makes sure that everything is working according to plan and that you minimize your customer service support emails.
The third thing is to be organized. Okay. No surprise. If you’ve been with me for a while, there’s no surprise here. Stay organized. Okay.
Keep track of all of your tasks as a contributor. This is what I do inside of my Bundle Contributor Hub that I mentioned earlier, which is where you can keep track of those tiny, tiny tasks that you might forget.
That task that says, add this tag or add this tag to the segment or make sure to create a coupon code. Whatever the task is, make sure that you’re keeping track of everything because sometimes even the smallest task is a super important or critical one that could break the whole process or can lead to extra customer service issues or you might miss a deadline.
So stay organized, keep track of everything that you’re doing as a contributor. And personally, I prefer to do this inside of a dedicated Bundle Contributor Hub.
So if you have one in Trello or Asana or ClickUp or whatever, use your project management tool to get one created per bundle. And we’ll actually talk about that in just a second, because I still have a fourth tip.

Support the promotion
The fourth tip is to support the promotion, even if there aren’t any promo requirements. You are participating in the collaborative event. That means everyone needs to do something or should do something because you’re a part of this bigger event.
We don’t want to get into that mindset of like, “oh, there’s 30 other contributors in this bundle. It’s fine if I don’t, if I don’t promote because all the other 29 will promote and that’s enough.”
But then if the other person has the same mindset and the other person has the same mindset, then it starts to boil down to just five contributors. And that is not going to be a good event for anyone.
So you really want to make sure that even before you apply to a bundle, take a look at your marketing calendar and see if there’s going to be an opportunity for you to promote.
At minimum, at least mention or send one email, mention it once. That is like the bare minimum that I would recommend. But of course, if there’s other promo requirements, then you need to make sure that you can actually do them. Don’t say that you’re going to do them and then don’t do them, without talking to the contributor first.
So support the promotion in whatever way you can.
And that is actually going to be a super big part of being that standout contributor because by promoting an event, it also helps show that you are, you know, a team player. And they can count and rely on you to help support the promotion of this collaborative bundle.
So definitely even if there’s no promo requirements, I’m really going to encourage you to send an email. Share about the bundle. Do something to, to promote and shout out about the bundle. Okay.
That’s going to make a huge, huge difference in not only how many people actually are promoting the bundle together, but if everyone is doing their part or the majority of people are doing their part, then it makes it a much better success or a much bigger success for everyone involved.
Because if only five out of the 30 people are promoting this bundle,then maybe you get, I don’t know, let’s say a hundred new subscribers. And that might be a lot. That may be a little bit, I’m just throwing out a random number, but it might be a hundred. But let’s say if 25 of you were to have promoted, then maybe you could get a thousand.
A thousand altogether, which means every single person will get even more subscribers, which is the whole point of a bundle. Right. You’re trying to get new email subscribers. You’re trying to grow your email list. So definitely support the promotion.
How To Stay Organized as a Bundle Contributor
Having a dedicated Bundle Contributor Hub can really, really help. It can really help you follow these four tips that I just covered, which is to submit your information on time, test your contribution, stay organized and to support the promotion.
Having a dedicated Bundle Contributor Hub per bundle, so this is not just one where all of the bundles that you participate are just in this one Trello board or this one hub.
I’m talking about having a specific hub for each bundle because this will help you keep track of all of those specific tasks and deadlines because not all bundles are equal. Some of them might have different tasks than others. Some might have different requirements than others. So you want to make sure that it’s easy for you to keep track of all of the tasks and deadlines for a specific bundle.
So you can keep track of your tasks, like setting up your email sequence or duplicating your sales page or creating the coupon code, etc.. And then, like I said, it makes it easier to be able to house all of the bundle things for that particular bundle.
So examples like the contributor resources and links, your affiliate links, any promo dates, any specific tasks for a specific bundle. You can keep track of your progress. You can keep track of your marketing assets for a particular bundle. Having a dedicated hub to this makes it super easy for you to keep everything within the same bundle in the same place.
So I made a Trello board version of this. I’ve recorded a training on how to use it strategically to help you keep track of all of your tasks as a bundle contributor, not only to become that standout contributor, but for you yourself, to be able to not miss any deadlines and to know exactly what you have to do.
Because as a bundle contributor, you’re doing a lot. Even though you’re not the one hosting the bundle, there’s still quite a few tasks that you have to do. And having a board like this, a hub like this, is really really going to help, especially if you are participating in multiple bundles throughout the year.
So if you want to not have to create it from scratch and you want something that’s been proven. Something that I use. I think I have like five right now that are open because that’s how many bundles I have coming up in the next few months.
I promise you It’s going to save you so much time and it is going to relieve you of so much of that overwhelm that comes with being a bundle contributor. And on top of that, the bonus is going to be that you’ll become that standout bundle contributor just by keeping up with your stuff.
