Hey, I’m Lucy Reyes, your host of the Cheerful Productive Chats podcast where I’m on a mission to help online entrepreneurs like you focus on all the right things and kiss overwhelm goodbye. Here you’re going to learn strategies that will boost your productivity so that you can scale your online bids and impact lives sooner. It’s your time to shine, so let’s get started.
Hey, welcome back to the Cheerful Productive Chaz podcast. I’m really excited about this episode, but we’re really going to see how much I can make it through because my voice is a little scratchy. I am feeling a little tad bit under the weather, so we’ll see how much we can actually get through. But I am really excited because we are talking about the productivity hacks to implement before Black Friday. Because just like myself, I’m sure like your inbox is blowing up with everyone’s Black Friday offers that are coming up and everyone’s preparing themselves for Black Friday because it is truly one of the biggest shopping days of the year is even for us business owners. So it is really or for us online business owners, should I say.
And it really is important for you to start preparing for Black Friday in advance because if you do so, if you have already decided that you’re going to run a sale, then this could potentially be the biggest sale of the year for your business. So it is important to start to prepare in advance. And I’ll be completely honest, like I typically by now at the time of recording this, I love to be way more ahead than I am currently myself for my Black Friday offer. You know, it just happens sometimes. That’s how it is. But I still wanted to come on here and like share what you can do to set you up for a better Black Friday. Not just as, you know, as a sale, like revenue wise, but just mentally prepare yourself for Black Friday. So yes, of course I’m going to have a Black Friday offer as well. So if you are on my email list, you would definitely hear me talking about that. I am going to be running some daily deals that are going to be available for 24 hours at a time.
So definitely something you want to keep your eye out for. And I’m also considering having just a flat discount across the shop as well. So if you haven’t visited the shop cheerful productivity.com or is that the… No, I don’t even know what you are. I was at the top of my head. That’s how woozy my head is. But it’s Cheerful Productivity Shop and go ahead and definitely look around and see what you’d like because there will be a flat discount across all of my products and and a few of those will be pulled for some very, very special daily deals. So definitely get on my email list if you haven’t yet, there’s a link in the show notes to do so. And now let’s go ahead and dive into these top productivity hacks to implement before Black Friday. So the first one here is to prioritize your task. Like, yes, of course, if you are running a Black Friday sale and if you are listening to this episode and you’re still working on your Black Friday sale, then that means you might be, you know, you’re cutting it pretty close to the deadline here.
So you definitely need to prioritize your task to make sure that you get everything done before the holidays. Especially if you’re in the US where you are, you know, celebrating Thanksgiving the day before. And if you are a parent with kids, then your kids are probably on vacation. So I really like to have everything done the week before because there’s a lot going on and I don’t like to spend Thanksgiving or Black Friday at my desk at all. Like, I want to be with my family and I want to enjoy my own shopping as well. So you definitely need to prioritize the tasks that you’re going to need to get done for your Black Friday sale. So one way that I do that is I have a very specific and dedicated Trello board specifically for Black Friday prep. And this board lists out every single task that I need to get done for this Black Friday sale. So I’m talking about everything from the sales pages, from working to affiliates to writing the email copy and the social media posts and delegating over to my VA.
Everything lives in this Trello board. So if you don’t have a dedicated space, whether it’s Trello or Asana or ClickUp, if you don’t have a dedicated space to really zone in on what are the Black Friday tasks that you need to get done. Definitely, definitely do that. And then use labels to mark certain things as a priority or whenever you are planning your weekly task, then definitely make sure that you are prioritizing working on that Black Friday sale. Because like I said, it could potentially be the biggest sale of the year for you. So you really want to prioritize getting those things done right. So use labels to prioritize it. Make sure that you market inside of your weekly planner, whether you are using Trello or you’re using some other tool or even a paper another tool. I can’t even talk another tool or even if it’s a paper planner.
Find a way to make sure that you’re prioritizing getting those Black Friday tasks done. Okay? Doing this is really going to help you focus on those high-impact activities first to really maximize your results. Okay? And if you are using Trello and you want to know some special hacks to really enhance this Trello board for your Black Friday preparation, grab my free Trello Hacks guide. The link will be in the show notes. All right. Now the second thing that you want to do is to batch your tasks. So batching really means that you are doing all the similar tasks together at the same time. So for example, if you are, you know, I mentioned that I am working on daily deals and I will have a flat discount across my shop doing this. I could decide to just work on all of the daily deals tasks first and then all of the like flat wide discount tasks next, right? That means I’m bouncing back and forth between tasks. For example, they’re both going to have similar things, right? I’m going to need to write emails for both of them. I’m going to need to create graphics for both of them. I’m going to need to create some sales pages for both of them.
So why not just do all of the similar tasks together? So instead of, you know, for example, working on my daily sales graphics and then working on the sales page and then working on the emails, I’m going to do all of the graphics first. Then I’m going to do all of the sales copy, then I’m going to do all of the sales pages that I need to do. All of the similar tasks need to be done together. Doing it this way really increases your focus, your time and your efficiency. So another example is exactly what I’m doing now. I dedicated my morning to record. So I am not recording, then editing and then doing the graphics and doing the blog posts and publishing. Like I’m not doing that, I am recording. So I have recorded this morning a an efficiency booster for my Systems Savvy Society members from there. I recorded the episode from last week and now I’m recording the episode from this week. And that was just a recording batch because my microphone’s already out, I’m already ready.
The house is quiet right now. I’m going to take advantage of the time and I’m just going to record and then I’m going to edit later. So this is an example of batching your Task. So you really want to do this because it really helps you increase your focus because you’re working on the same thing and it increases the time efficiency, right? So you really want to schedule either specific times, if you like time blocking or what? Like I do, I do blocks of time to. Or blocks of time in my day, not specific hours, but time in my day to really complete these batch tasks. So that way you do minimize this context, switching from having to go from task to task to task. And now your brain is like, oh, okay, we’re not recording anymore. Over. We’re working on graphics. Oh, we’re not working on graphics anymore. Oh, you’re back to recording. Okay, and now you see what I mean? Like it’s just different ways of using your brain and let’s just use the same way together to get those tasks done before you move on to the next thing. So look at your Black Friday plan and definitely see what are those tasks that can be batched together and work on those. I’m really shocked that I’m getting through this episode.
All right, so the next step here is to automate repetitive actions. So you really want to automate as much as you can in your business. And if you haven’t already started to automate things, and I definitely, definitely, highly recommend because it truly does minimize your errors and it gives you like way less manual workload. Okay. Like you are letting some robots, some software, some platform do the thing for you, which increases your own efficiency and just takes things off of your plate. Like that is amazing, right? Like that is amazing if you can automate certain things. So you can automate basic, basic tasks like within your own project management tool. So in Trello, you know, one automation that I use all of the time is to add or remove labels or to add certain checklists to a card when it gets moved over to a specific list and a workflow in the process. Little things like that. Some other simple tasks that you might already be automating is sending out that welcome email or that post-purchase email, right? So whenever someone buys something from you, they’re receiving an email that says, hey, woohoo, you joined. Here’s your information on how to log in or get access or whatever. That is an automation as well.
You know, you might need a tool like Zapier to connect several different tools to talk to another, right? And in episode 28, if you go back to listen to that, when I actually share more tools that you might want to use to automate your business. So definitely take a listen to that episode if you haven’t yet, to really help you figure out where and how you can automate certain tasks to get things off of your plate. Like, you have a lot going on for Black Friday, you have a lot going on. So let’s help you do as little as possible by automating a certain task that you don’t need to be the one to do. Okay, and now the last kind of like a bonus tip here is to set some boundaries. So inside of the Product Entrepreneurs Club, we have been talking all about boundaries. The month of November, because it’s, it’s getting into the holidays. If you’re in the US, then you already are experiencing a holiday, right?
It’s Thanksgiving week and from there it goes into Christmas mode. So the holidays are coming up and that is when there is so much happening in our personal life. And so you really are going to want to set some boundaries ahead of time. And you’re going to do this by defining what are your current boundaries and assessing how well you even enforce them. Because you might think you have boundaries, but they’re not really boundaries. If you’re not enforcing them, whether it’s within yourself, your friends, your family, your pets, your kids, then you’re not really enforcing them, right? So you really want to think about, okay, what are the boundaries that I currently have? Am I enforcing them? Am I not? And should they be adjusted? Because you really want to protect your space, your mental being, your well-being throughout these holiday seasons, throughout these next few weeks.
So definitely set some boundaries that are going to help, you know, protect yourself and take care of yourself. Because you matter. And without you, a lot of things aren’t going to get done, whether that’s at home, at work, your job, or, you know, in your business. Like, you need to be in the best, you need to be your best self, right? In order for other things to get done naturally. So this has been the topic of the Productive Entrepreneurs Club, which is my mini membership. So definitely come and join us if you feel like you need a little bit extra support with settings and boundaries. You can check us out by visiting cheerstoproductivity.com/club. And now, before we wrap up, let’s go ahead and recap the productivity tips that I really want you to implement before Black Friday.
So first I want you to prioritize those tasks specifically for Black Friday, any Black Friday tasks, you really want to make sure that you are prioritizing them so you can get them done. Next, you want to batch schedule to get those tasks done. So all of the tasks that you have assigned yourself to get done for Black Friday. Figure out which tasks are similar that you can batch do together and then schedule some time blocks to do that. The third thing is to automate any repetitive actions so that way you can let the robots do it for you and you’re not doing it yourself. And then lastly, make sure that you are setting some boundaries. Whether it’s at work, at home, in your business, with your kids, with your pets, with tv, whatever boundaries you need to set, make sure that you are setting those to take care of yourself.
And if you do need some extra support with setting those boundaries, I invite you to join my mini membership. It’s only $7 a month and you head to cheerstoproductivity.com/club, where this month’s theme is all about boundaries. All right, I’m so excited that I made it through this episode, but I definitely need to go grab some tea now and I will. I honestly don’t know when I’m going to record another episode next because like I said, it is coming into the holidays, so I might take another little short break. But we’ll see. We’ll see if I get inspired to record another episode for next week or if I will talk to you, you know, shortly after the Thanksgiving holiday.
